One of the things that makes memories marvelous is the fact that in a society so driven by outcomes, your memories don't depend on them. Think back to the death of a loved one; it was hard to lose that person, but in the big picture that's not really what matters. The important thing is that you had them to lose in the first place. When two people grow apart, it doesn't make sense to regret that relationship, because the really good memories will remain as authentic and real as they were on the day they were made. Why dread or deny their existence, no matter how one situation or another turns out? One of my favourite quotes goes: "Never regret anything in life, because at one time it was exactly what you wanted."
All of your memories are Wee World Wonders. Something you can keep for always.
